Help us support vital charity
A Cirencester business owner is urging bosses from the area to join him in backing a charity golf tournament and helping to raise £10,000 for research into a debilitating illness.
The seventh annual Parkinson’s UK Gloucestershire Pairs Challenge takes place at Cirencester Golf Club on Friday, May 17.
Around 120 golfers are paying £79 per pair to play, with prize for the best ladies and mens teams, best mixed team, and best team with a member with Parkinson's.
There are also prizes for the longest drive, straight drive, nearest the pin, nearest the pin in two shots, and hole in one.
Corporate sponsors are being invited to sponsor holes at £250 and enter teams. Representing Pebley Beach – which is sponsoring the fourth hole – will be Emerson Phipps and Mark Colborne.
Dominic Threlfall, managing director of Suzuki car dealership Pebley Beach at Love Lane in Cirencester, said: "We’re delighted to be involved with this event, and would love to other businesses come forward so that every hole is sponsored.”
Dom said the event held particular resonance with him, as a close family member has been affected by Parkinson's.
Sarah Wakeman, regional fundraiser for Parkinson’s UK, said: “We are very grateful for Pebley Beach’s continued support of the Clubbing Together event. The money raised funds much needed research into a cure for this debilitating condition.”
The funds will be used to help find a cure for Parkinson's, a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that affects 127,000 Britons – around one in every 500 people in the UK.
